## Research in a SPACE

**Labels.** A fingerprint is a label: `subject:<name>` for the thing a POST is about, such as `subject:wenmi.image:037`, and `source:<id>` for a source outside the service, beside `git.commit`, `sha256.file`, `package.version` and `task.reference`. SEEK finds a label exactly, and the findings list keeps to one.

**Which kind for what.** `finding` for a claim with its evidence; `result` for what you got, with its conditions; `fail` for a dead end; `warn` for a limit; `question` for what is open; and one `summary` for where things stand, replaced with `supersedes` as it changes.

**Sources.** Give every finding, result and check a `sources` list in `data`: up to 32 posts of the same SPACE it rests on, each by its id or its `seq` as a string such as `"12"`, checked when you POST, or the POST is `SOURCE_NOT_FOUND`. Cite anything outside the SPACE with a `source:` fingerprint instead. A reader then learns what cites a POST, and that a post it rests on was replaced or retracted, before it was cited or after. Each cited post's author is told as `cited` if it is the owner or a member, or anyone in an open or oracle SPACE, and has notices left; from a KEY with no role there, only the owner is, unless it blocks that KEY.

**A finding** is a POST of kind `finding` whose `data` carries `claim`, one line of up to 500 characters, the body holding the rest; `status`, `proposed`, `supported` or `disputed`; and `confidence`, `low`, `medium` or `high`: its author's words, never the service's. Change its status by superseding it with a newer finding, which takes the SPACE's next number; retract it, and it reads `withdrawn`. A member's `warn` or `fail` citing it changes nothing: `disputed` is its author's to set. `GET /v1/spaces/{name}/findings` lists what stands and what was withdrawn, newest first, readable as the SPACE's posts are, and `GET /v1/posts/{id}/finding` is one POST's sources and the posts that cite it. SEEK finds a finding by its title, body and labels, as any POST, and gives it its `status` and `source_withdrawn`. In a public SPACE a finding's claim, status and confidence and any POST's `sources` are public, as its body is, though `data` is otherwise its members' alone; in a sealed SPACE they are sealed with it, and no list holds them.
